I am using Maverick on Mac Mini
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong
Ever since an update I am getting this error on some videos. It used to work. I am have read a little that it can be fixed by plex.js but I am unable to locate that file on plex server. Can anyone assist?
Can't launch Plex media servicer on Drobo FS. Also when in Plextv/web account and I click Launch nothing happens and when I click on Devices, it is not there and thus recognized. I have looked everywhere on the net and can find nothing that helps, yet people say they can do it and are very pleased with the software.
I have a lifetime plex pass, I've logged in to my account, and I'm clicking on the "Claim Server" button. It keeps telling me that it was unsuccessful. I need to get this working so that it shows up in my server queue.
I'm using the latest PMS release on the Drobo 5n. This is my backup PMS, my primary PMS is on my Mac, and that server is claimed and working fine.
I have two Drobo5n boxes, let's call them BOXA and BOXB. I have Plex running and configured on one of them, BOXA. I have my music on the other Drobo5n, BOXB. How do I add the share on the other Drobo5n (BOXB) to the Drobo5n (BOXA) that is already running Plex?
Does anyone know if the media server will install on the B810n? It's seen as an app in the DroboApps on the Dashboard but will not install? If manually loaded its seen but wants to upgrade. Judging by past posts this might be a real effort, but I would really like to use Plex on the B810n. Many thanks for any assistance.
Anyone able to play 4K content off of Drobo 5N?
I get a failed to play content error from a 4K MKV file
My Plex experience is horrible.
In my living room, where my Drobo 5N is running Plex, the Xbox One streams fine as it is connected to the router via Ethernet, as is the Drobo.
But in my bedroom, on the other side of the wall where the wireless router sits, the Xbox 360 and AppleTV both constantly buffer, play about 60 seconds, buffer, plays 30 seconds, buffers, plays 70 seconds… wash, rinse, repeat.
I do not stream outside my home network.
All of my firmwares are up to date. All the applications are up to date.
I am so desperate. Does anyone see ANY settings I should change to make my experience more enjoyable? The Plex system is practically unwatchable on wireless. I have tried both 5G and whatever isn't 5G wireless.
The 360 and AppleTV connect wirelessly.
Here is an album with screen shots of all my settings

Hi all,
I have issues with the photos folder through Plex. The folder has been in "scanning" mode for months, and it never stops even if I manually tell it to stop.
Is there a size limitation to what Plex can handle? Or is there a setting that I can change that would make it work? I have a feeling it is taking quite a few processor cycles to keep scanning which is impacting the overall performance of the NAS.
Thanks!
Erik
I've had a Drobo 5N for a few years and so far Plex has been working perfectly using various clients such as iOS, a Samsung Smart TV and an Xbox One.
Lately however, many 1080p videos fail to play at all, saying the server doesn't support transcoding. My content is mostly x264 .mkv files, with the rare x265 or mp4 file. I'm not sure what might have changed that would be preventing these videos from working all of a sudden? Is it possible that my content is a higher bitrate than it was before?
If I try streaming the files directly through the Xbox One media player (standard DLNA), the files start playing but there is a lot of stutter (unwatchable).
I know that my clients can support this video type, so could it be a networking issue instead? I have an ASUS RT-AC86U (802.11ac) and the Xbox One is setup via wifi (802.11n). I know wireless isn't ideal, but everything had been working without a hitch up to this point.
All - I have never been able to get my Drobo Plex available outside of my network, even though I have tried all of the steps outlined on the Plex site.
I have turned on and off uPNP, manually forwarded ports, turned off the Netgear Open DNS monitoring service, etc. Apart from opening a DMZ (which I don't want to do!) are there any other steps I can try?
I always get this:
"Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network. Learn more"
Thanks!
Erik
I am well aware that Plex doesn't support direct stream of TrueHD/Atmos formats to most devices and has to transcode the audio. For whatever reason the client just quits playing when trying to start up the session. The file works fine in PHT but AppleTV just quits and iOS it just says it can't be played. I am thinking there is something wrong with transcoding with the latest version of PMS (1.0.0.2261) has anyone else experienced this? I am aware that the CPU sucks in the 5N I have been debating upgrading the server to a Nvidia Shield once they are support Direct play of these formats.
I have a LenovoEMC NAS. I installed Plex on it, but recently had to upgrade the firmware of the server to accommodate some critical vulnerabilities. In doing so, it wiped my Plex install.
I tried to reinstall Plex, but it doesn't work. I did manage to get an older version running, but I need to segment users because I don't want my kids accessing my content, and it was a much older version than I was used to using.
I understand that ARM v5 is no longer supported (i.e. 40% of NAS devices on the market now), and that ARM v7 is the only supported type now, but I'd like to get up and running again.
I'd like to get the binary for the last version which supported ARM v5, because I think that would solve my issues, but I can't find any of the older versions' source locations to point my installer to.
Any suggestions?
For the past year I've been copying the Plex.tgz file to my droboapps folder and rebooting to get the next version up and running. Well I got a new AppleTV which REQUIRES AT LEAST 0.9.12.18 but can't update any more.
I have tried stopping the service, rebooting and restarting it. I have tried to stop all drobo apps and restarting them but no updates happen and that dang tgz file is there....mocking me. Can anyone help? I have all the latest updates to the Drobo and the Drobodashboard.
Thanks,
-Jeff
Hello all. I'm planning on getting a Drobo 4 bay, which is a directly attached storage, and use that as the main Plex storage drive.
The Drobo would be connected to my Windows Server 2012 r2 box via USB3.0 interface, so speed shouldn't be an issue.
Some might say why not just get the NAS model, but I want NTFS permissions controlled by my server (not running Active Directory, and the DAS is cheaper.
Has anyone done this? I imagine it would be no different than just having a huge flash drive, but I just want to make sure this will work before I do anything.
Thoughts?
Please can anyone look at a crash dump for me?
the Plex server app on my Drobo5n stopes very frequently; at least twice a day often more.
Actually, poor performance isn't quite accurate. It just doesn't work.
I have a Drobo 5N with Plex installed on it. The Drobo has 4x 4TB drives, all very quick and brand new. I also have an SSD installed underneath for the "hot cache" feature. The Drobo then goes into my EE Brightbox 2 router via a lan cable. It is plugged in to the gigabit port, not the other megabit ones.
Here is a small diagram of my set up:
The Drobo works fine on the network at home. I have connected multiple devices to it and it streams just fine. It isn't quick by any means, just fine. If I play a movie on a laptop when browsing the Drobo over wifi it works without any stuttering.
I have a Samsung Smart TV with the Plex app installed, I have tried using it wirelessly and with a lan cable going in to a megabit ethernet port and I can browse the Drobo but playing any file just times out.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue, presumably with EE routers being so slow?
Thanks
Rob
I decided that having 3 usb hard drives(that are full) attached to my mac mini was getting crazy and I bought a Drobo 5N. This is my current setup : Mac Mini wireless to the network, running PMS, and connected to a TV. The Drobo 5n is wired directly to the router.
So the real question is: Should I just run PMS on the drobo 5n? I do access it from 3 other locations in the house.
I appreciate your thoughts.

I just upgraded my account today to Plex Pass, because I wanted to see how much more exciting my music libraries could be. :)
Unfortunately, every time I try to create a new Premium Plex library, Plex server seems to crash or shut down. When I start Plex back up and retry the same steps, it seems to crash at the exact same spot. Prior to using Plex Pass, creating basic music libraries, the server would always complete the building of the library, so I assume it has something to do with creating a premium library.
I have all the log files and screenshots, and I even have a crash dump. I will attach them to the thread.
